Plan concrete masonry blocks

Use the actual face of one concrete masonry block, not the nominal module or the wall thickness. Start from net wall area after openings and enter both joint dimensions explicitly.

How to use it

Enter net wall area, actual block face length and height, head and bed joints, and your waste percentage.
If your selected block SKU has a declared units-per-package count, enter it for whole-package planning; otherwise keep the physical block count.

Formula

Module area = (actual block length + head joint) × (actual block height + bed joint). Divide net wall area by this module, apply explicit waste and round up to whole blocks. Packages need an entered block count per package.

Example

At 8 m² net wall area, a block face of 39 cm × 19 cm and joints of 10 mm in both directions form a 0.08 m² module. With 0% waste, the estimate is 100 whole blocks. No package count is shown without units per package.

What the estimate uses

One block SKU with identical actual face dimensions and explicit positive joints; openings are already removed from area.

Limits

The calculator does not determine hollow versus solid suitability, face-shell bedding, filled cores or special corner units.
It does not calculate reinforcement, structural capacity, wall thickness or mortar from joint size.
