Brick wall
Brick calculator for a wall
Estimate whole bricks for a wall area using one actual brick size, explicit joints and waste.

Estimate bricks from the wall face
Start with net wall area after openings. Use the actual face dimensions of one brick and explicit head and bed joints for the chosen construction; nominal size is not a substitute.
How to use it
- Enter net wall area, the actual brick length and height visible on the wall, both joint widths and your own waste percentage.
- For whole packs, enter how many of that same brick SKU are in one compatible package.
Formula
Module face area = (actual brick length + head joint) × (actual brick height + bed joint). Theoretical bricks = net wall area ÷ module area. Add waste, then round up to whole bricks and packs.
Example
For 8 m² net wall area, a 19 cm × 9 cm brick and 10 mm joints in both directions give a 0.02 m² module. That is 400 brick equivalents; with 5% waste, buy 420 bricks. At 100 bricks per pack, buy five packs and have 80 bricks by count left over.
What the estimate uses
- All bricks have the same actual face and joint dimensions; openings are already excluded from the wall area.
Limits
- Brick bond, cuts, corners, wall thickness and load-bearing suitability are not designed.
- Mortar is not inferred from joint size; it needs separate product-declared consumption data.
Brick question
Should I enter nominal or actual brick dimensions?
Enter the actual face dimensions of the brick you will use. The two joints are separate inputs, so a nominal module must not be entered as the brick itself.
